Day One: The Arrival of the Trees

November 24, 2012

Today was a great first day to our 2012 season! The temperature was a balmy 54 degrees for much of the day, the trees looked and smelled terrific coming off the trailer from Canada, and our customers’ holiday cheer was already in mid-season form. The first day of the season is always special. For many of our longtime employees, “unloading trees at the lot” is as synonymous with the day after Thanksgiving as reheating a heaping pile of leftover turkey and stuffing. The first day represents our reunion with each other, as coworkers and lifelong friends, with our loyal customers, and with our neighbors on always-entertaining Harvard Avenue in Allston.

On the left is one of the few pictures we captured today. We promise that there will be more pictures to come. In the meantime, perhaps you can enjoy the picture below, from day one of a season in the late 1970s (those guys are all still working here too):

We love catching up with return customers, starting a tradition for our new customers, and waving “hello” to all of the passersby who comment, “Wow, that smells amazing.” We hope that you all enjoyed a relaxing and delicious Thanksgiving, and we look forward to seeing you all soon at “the lot”!

Happy holidays!
